Goodreads choice awards 2013- Semifinal round

There are two favourite times of the year for me! Can you guess? No, it's not Christmass and my birthday. It's the time I set my Goodreads challenge and The Goodreads choice awards. I read lots of new book this year and yet I have so may more to read. I wasn't able to vote in all the categories, but I voted for most.

 Mystery and Thriller:

I voted for Speaking from Among the Bones(Flavia de Luce #5) by Alan Bradley. I haven't read this ne yet, but I read three books by Alan Bradley this year and I loved them so I decide to vote for this one anyway!

 Eleven-year-old amateur detective and ardent chemist Flavia de Luce is used to digging up clues, whether they’re found among the potions in her laboratory or between the pages of her insufferable sisters’ diaries. What she is not accustomed to is digging up bodies. Historical Fiction:

Now I was planning to read a lot more historica fiction this year, but I didn't have the time and patience. There was a new Philipa Gregory book, however, I didn't vote for it. I voted for Life after Life by Kate Atkinson. It's really more of a fantasy novel than historical fiction and I liked it very much. It got me  out of a reading slump in August during the Bout of Books Read-a-thon.

Fantasy:

I was suprised to see that I have to choose between two of my favourite books for this category. Vicious by V.E. Schwab and The ocean at the end lane by Neil Gaiman. So I voted for Vicious on the first round and for The Ocean at the end of the lane in the semifinal round.

Paranormal Fantasy:

I voted for The Bone season by Samantha Shannon. I'm curently reading it and it's great so I decided to vote for it.

Humor:

Skipping forward to humor. I voted for William Shakespeare's Star Wars by Ian Doescher. What? You didn't expect the author to be William Shakespeare, did you? It's a great book espesialy for fans of Star Wars.

Graphic Novels & Comics:

I started reading manga this summer so I haven't  read much of what came this year. I was busy reading things that came out 10 years ago! I still voted for Clockwork prince The Manga.

Debut authors:

Here I voted for The Madman's dughter by Megan Shepherd.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Enough said!!

Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction:

This was the hardest category, because that's the genre I read the most. Unsuprisingly I have read every book in this category. OK, not all the books. More like 17/20 books. n the first round I voted for Allegiant and on the second for the Dream Thives. I wanted to vote for Requiem or The Elite or Scarlet or Prodigy or unravel me or Opal or Clockwork princess or The indigo spell or Siege and Storm, but I couln't!!

Middle Grade & Children's:

Why are the Heroes of Olympus series books in middle grade cathegory? I never considered them that way. However Ididn't vote for The House of Hades. All fans are gobba vote for it. I decided to give a chance to the other great books. On the first round I voted for The Doll bones by Holly round and on the semifinal I voted for The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani. Both are great book and both deserve to win!!

The first kidnappings happened two hundred years before. Some years it was two boys taken, some years two girls, sometimes one of each. But if at first the choices seemed random, soon the pattern became clear. One was always beautiful and good, the child every parent wanted as their own. The other was homely and odd, an outcast from birth. An opposing pair, plucked from youth and spirited away.

NaNowWriMo 2013 - week two

So, hello there writers! How's NaNoWriMo going? I'm behind with my words again. The goal for today is 25 000 words and as you can see I'm still at 21 666. It's quite discouraging, but I refuse to give up! I will just write a little tonight and a lot tomorrow!!
You know whats good for taking you out of a writing slump? A writing sprint!!! There is even a Twitter calle NaNoWriMo sprints. There are sprits there 24/7. You should really try. You don't have to use the prompts. Just write about whatever you want. I myself use the prompt, becuase that's a good way to get book ideas.
Now after I have shared this with you I have to go write several book reviews andd read and write my novel.

So, how many people has read this book? I really started it on impulse. I was browsing through the unread books on my Kindle and I saw this one. And when I came home I finished it.  It was just me staying untill 2 AM. Nothing new! I haven't read that many books with gay characters in them. I don't have nothing against them, quite the opposite- I usually love gay characters. 

Kai and Jem:

I don't think I can make separate topics about them They were good friends and I can talk about the one without talking about the other. Ummmmm, I think Kai could have handled the video without killing himself. He said it himself: I just have to wait for someone to do something more embarrassing on the next party! He really should have waited. But I guess without him dying there would have been no plot and no book.  I didn't like that Kai was trying to change Jem with those challenges. Maybe she likes herself like that. You have no right to try to change that. He was always saying she doesn't have to do thse challenges only because he is dead, but, of course, he knows that she will do them no matter what he tells her. Why? BEcause you are dead and she considers those challenges your death wishes. That's why!!

Letters:

On the other hand I really liked the letters. They were funny and great and some of them made me cry. I think the book was a bit too fast in the beginning. It was like one chapter means one month. And there was a letter in every chapter. But soon things started to slow down and even drag at tomes and I just wanted to skip a few pages and get to Kai's next letter.

Girl-gets-revenge:

I was really afraid at some point of this book that it will turn into girl-gets-revenge type of book. I really read a lot of those this year. And by a lot I mean 5 or 6. It can seem little to you, but it feels like reading the same book over and over gain. Luckily this book wasn't like that.

The Ending !!!!Spoilers!!!!

Well, of course it had a sad ending. Of course! Jem couldn't just live her life and make her dreams come true. (Whatever her dreams were!) No! She just had to die. And she was going to choose life if she had only waited a few more hours. It's really stupid!! This ending left me crying. At least it wasn't as bad as Allegiant. After that last sentence from her where she says she chooses life too late. I was like: Did she do it? Did she? Did she? No, she didn't! Oh, yes she did! And you know the last chapter makes it even harder. With the message that Sasha has awakened and Kai's last letter. Talking to the "wiser" Jem.

Sasha:

Sasha was really a typical popular girl. She was a bit of dumb at times and annoying, but I really think she was a good friend to Jem. And Jem shouldn't have said what she said to her in the end. She shouldn't habe gotten that kind of ending. But there had to be something tragic in the book, something that we dob't expect. 

Romance:

So one of the main things in this book is that Jem is in love with Kai, but really she never thought about him that way in the book. I mean, she obviously didn't stop liking him after he told her he was gay. And yet she didn't think about him as more than a friend in the book. But I didn't get one thing. Did she fall in love with Lucas?  And my second question is: Are Lucan and Jem some kind of sex machines? Really, if I can trust what Jem says they did it all the time. It's just so...so...I don't even know what to say!

I think that it from me! I guess the moral of this book is: Don't try to kill youself, because you are going to regret it when it's too late! This might not be the moral exactly, but this is a fair poin, I think!!

As you can see there are a lot of exclamation marks.

The Ending

We all know that's what everyone's talking about these days. The Ending or as I call it: That time Veronica Roth decided to turn into George R.R. Martin. I have been heearing all kinds of things about this ending. From: That's the worst ending ever! to That was the most beautiful ending ever! I must say I liked the ending. It was very...poetic. I mean, someone had to die. Right? And we all expected it to be Four. I wanted him to die at some point of the book. Don't get me wrong! I love Four. I would love to marry him and live with him, but if I had to choose between Tris and Four, Four will have to die. Cause we all love Tris! Tris has grown on me, because we are alike. Yeah, I know that sounds dull and stupid and I'm not saying that I'm ready to get shot to save my brother. But who knows? Maybe I'll know if I had a brother or a sister to protect! And even if I'm not like a Tris I can't help, but admire her. She is so selfless! I don't think anyone can be that selfless.
But let's continue on The Ending. I had lots of theories for it. 1. Four is gonna die!
2. Chicago will get restarted! 3. Four or Triss will have to take the Memory serum! 4. Happy end!
So, yeah none of those happend, but they would have made great endings, all of them. Well, maybe not the first one.
And now what's going to happen in the future? I bet Four will make the world a better place for Tris's sake. Hell, he'll probably make a statue of her in the center of Chicago!
Oh and one more thing. You all know there are going to be Divergent movies. Imagine how will all of us feel when the third movie comes out. We will have to live trough it all over again. All the tears and the pain and the depression.
I never believed that Tris was really dead. When she saw her mother's "ghost" I thought she was hallucinating and that it's because of the death serum. Or maybe her mother was a divergent and she survived. Was Tris's mom Divergent? I remeber reading about it, but it might have been jist some FanFiction!
 And then they told Four about it and I didn't believe it. I was like: No, she is alive! Thay only think she is dead! Or she is in coma and she is gonna wake up in the end of the book! The book is probably gonna end on her opening her eyes! Yes, that's how books end! Alas, I stopped believing it when they scattered her ashes. Now I won't talk about this anymore, because I'm going to cry again. I almost cried in Maths today when a friend of mine told me she had just started "Insurgent". A fangirl can only take this much feels for less than 24 hours!

Character deaths (I blame Four!!):

So Uraih! Poor great cool funny Uraih! I'll miss him very mutch. I felt like: Ok, so Tris died, but Uraih's going to live! Right? Nope, not a chance! And I must say that his death was an accident and I don't blame anyone.......Who am I kidding? I blame Four! You should have listened to you girlfriend you stupid hot-headed sexy idiot! But you got what you deserved. Well, almost! Zeke should have punched you. That would have taught you! And talking about how Four was stupid, lets talk about Nita! I never liked her. She just had that vibe that shouted "bad" around her. I'm happy she ended in prison. And if you have been following my reading updates you have already seen the "kind" note I wrote her!
Umm...Where was I? Sorry I got distracted by Percy Jackson! So many fandoms, so little time! *sight* Oh, yeah! Another character  I'm gonna miss very very much is Tori! Dear, badass Tori. Oh, she could have had a happy ending! If she had gotten to the campground she could have met her brother and she could have been happy. But she didn't! She died! Thank you very much, Miss Roth! I really thought she will be a part of the team that reaches the Fence. And then she just died. Like that! I always remebered her as a great person, I mean character. She was good to Tris and helped her, but I recently re-read Insurgent and she wasn't very likable in it. She didn't trust Tris and she was just so obsessed with killing Janine!

Petere, Christina and other people who are still alive:

Now Peter time! There were these moments in the book where I really liked him! I know people hate him, but he saved Tris's life a few times and in this book we find oyt that this acident with Edward was really an accident. I wish Veronica Roth had told us what really happend. And in this book those little jokes with Four and stuff. I'm happy things ended well for him. Yeah, he chose the cowardy way by getting the Abneration serum, but he was happy. For some people is too hard to live with awful things they have done. And he chose to forget them. Case closed!
Christina. Blessed, saint Christina! She was a great friend and her and Tris's realtionship lasted so long. They stayed friends until the end. And yeah, they had a great big fight, because Tris shot Will, but they got over it. And there was this friendship between Christina and Four after Tris died. Christina stopped Four from taking The Abneration serum and she was there for him. I think Christina lost almost all people she loved. I mean, this girl must be cursed to love guys who die. And now you say "There was only Will!" But I'm sure there could have been something between her and Uraih. Am I the only one who saw it?
Four's mother was...well, I liked her in the end. That moment when she gave up ruling Chicago for her son was just great. And when they meet again they are like a family and she is there for him.
Caleb! I stopped liking him in the end of the first book. I had this feeling he is not gonna be good and I was right. He shouldn't have let Tris take the serum instead of him. Yep, I blame him.

Tris and Four relationship:

Tris anf Four's realtionship was up and down in this book. In Divergent it was all perfect and lovely. Kisses and love, love, love! In Insurgent we get the first fight, the lies and so on. And in Allegiant they are in some middle ground. They fight, but theu still love each other. That made their ralationship seem much more real.

Quotes:

This book is big on quotes. Funny quotes and clever ones. I'm just going some of my favourites with you:

But that wasn´t the first time I ever saw her. I saw her in the hallways at school, and at my mother’s false funeral, and walking the sidewalks in the Abnegation sector. I saw her, but I didn’t see her; no one saw her the way she truly was until she jumped. I suppose a fire that burns that bright is not meant to last.

 

I  didn't know that idiocy caused people to just start spontaneously bleeding from the nose.

The first step to loving someone else is to recognize the evil in ourselves, so we can forgive them.

 “Yes," she says, her eyes bright with tears. "My dear child, you've done so well.” (This one always makes me cry!)

Being honest doesn't mean you say whatever you want, wherever you want. It means that what you choose to say is true.

 It's Not sacrifice if it's someone else's life you're giving away, it's just evil.

About the last quote. Who the hell said that? I'm pretty sure that was the thing that made Tris go in the Weapons room instead of Caleb!

NaNoWriMo 2013- week one

Hello, my dear (non-existent) readers!
I can't believe it's day 8 already. It has bee a crazy week, but I'm proud of myself. Cause, come on! That's 14 000 word after all.
I missed the first two days of NaNoWriMo, because I was on a school trip and I had to catch up fast.
So my first day aka. the third day of NaNoWriMo I stayed up all night to write 3000 word and got around 3 hours of sleep. Drank lots of Coke, because I don't drink coffee. My friens are afraid I'm becoming an addict, but I'm ready to get addicted to cafeine if I'll write a novel. And I think I'm ready to sell my soul to the devil himself if I can become a proper writer and get published some day.
My writing method is quite simple. I write on every piece of paper I can find when I'm not at home and even when I don't have ideas for the current chapter I skip and write the ending, for example. Then when I get home I re-write the ideas. Sometimes I change them completely or they become useless. Self-discipline is very important for NaNoWriMo. You should forget about Twitter, Goodreads, Thumblr, Facebook, Youtube and your social life. A friends invites you to go out, but you still have to write 1000 words. What do you do? You stay home and write 2000 words so you can have less words to write tomorrow. What am I doing here then? I have to go write some more!

Hello, my unexisting readers! Are you there? Or should I say are you not there?

Review time! If you haven't read the first book I don't recommend you reading this. Oh hell. You shouldn't read it if you haven't read the second book. It's full of SPOILERS!

Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after...

The Ending:

The Ending!!! What the hell? What was that? I think I can call it a cliffhanger! What happend to Maura? Did she got consmed by the scrying bowl or something? Someone should explain it to me! And this note! Glendower! How? Why? What? Now everyone's going to get together to find Glendower and Maura! Cala and The raven boys and Blue and Persephone and there is going to be badass psychic stuff and Ronan and Gansey with all his machines and Adam who is now Cabeswater's eyes and ears and, of course, Blue who pretty much does nothing. I'm kidding. Can you make this happen, Magie? Please, Miss Stiefvater! Pretty please!

The Battle

Now I think there should have been a little more details in the battle between Ronan and Kavinsky. That's nightmares vs. a dragon. A! DRAGON! But I guess Ronan is not into details. He is a man of action. Someone should write a book about nightmare and dragons. Oh, wait, That's George R.R. Martin!

Gansey and Blue or Kisses and Relationships:

Ummm.......They didn't kiss. Which was a dissappointment, but not a suprise. But their relationship ivolved. I'm not sure if that's the right word. What about "there is an upgrate"? Yeah, it sounds better. I'm happy Blue stopped denying her destiny, because I was getting tired shouting at her to stop. Going against fate is bad. That's what Greek mythology teached me. Adam was not for her. Oh, and I think I pulled some pages of the book from my dreams. Did Noah and Blue really kiss? I'm almost sure I dreamed this. It's just so...Wow. Obviously they are not going to be a couple, but the idea of them kissing is just so...strange. It was the only kiss in the book anyway. I so wish for Blue and Gansey to kiss. There was this time when I thought they would. I'm sure 80 percent of the readers thought the same thing. But atleast they can't deny it anymore. They love each other and that's it.

Bulgaria

You probably don't know, but I live in Bulgaria, in Europe. It's a small country really. And I get over-exited when I see Bulgaria mentioned in non-Bulgarian books. So I was dancing around when I found out Kavinsky listens to Bulgarian music and I even found the song he was listening to. Bravo Maggie Stiefvater. You even used Bulgarian words.

Ronan

So, Ronan was never my favourite in the first book.  But in this book I just want to hug him. Not because I feel sorry for him, but because he is such a cool character. And he is gay which was a great twist. I never expected it. I should re-read both books now that I know that. And I hope he can save his mother. And I don't know what to think of this girl from his dreams. He is not gonna end up with him for sure. He is probably going to dream himself another Adam.

Adam

Adam had great issues in this book. He is so afraid not to turn into his dad that he can't notice he actually is turning into his dad. It was hard for him when Blue broke up with him. (Like they ever had a chance together!) God bless Persephone for helping him. He is like A magician now. Right? Well, I guess that a mahician is not the right word. He is Cabeswater's eyes and ears.

This was a great book and I recommend it. Go read it.
